SOLILOQUI

‘The UK has a reputation for producing some of the world's most loved, award winning, period dramas but there is a dramatic gap in representation.

Culturally diverse stories and actors have been, for the most part, almost non-existent.

UNDEREXPOSED ARTS inserts itself into this narrative by addressing the lack of diverse cultural representation.  Our vision is to reveal the value and significance of being represented historically in those moments. To showcase stories that define our cultural heritage.

We created ‘Soliloqui,’ a new and alternative space for artists from culturally diverse backgrounds to tell contemporary and historical stories of significance within the context of the theatrical period drama.

‘Soliloqui’ consists of an ongoing, multi-episodic series of ‘Soliloqui’ and interviews; an open space for artistic performance, classical speeches, new writing, spoken word, and music and dance.

Artists will be invited to perform a ‘Soliloqui’, adorned in classic period costume, filmed on location and in green screen studio. Viewers are then  transported through time and expand their understanding through the use of archival content.
